FIFA 12 | So You Want A… Right Back (Winter Update)

Up next, right backs.

Listed below are some of the most promising young right backs in the game. This time round I had to up the OVR threshold to 75 – with it set to 73 there are only about 8 RBs with potential over 80 (and OVR 73 or lower, obviously). Furthermore, I have listed the players by cost, with the cheapest at the top of each sub-group (players are grouped by potential). Since the winter update RBs are not cheap, so in most cases you’ll have to be prepared to shell out a bit in order to get the player you want.

Here are my recommendations:

  • Nathaniel Clyne
  • Nenad Tomovi?
  • Matteo Darmian

Nathaniel Clyne has received a nice little potential boost since the update, bringing it up from 82 to 84. He is speedy, has excellent stamina and is very good going forward, so he’s a must if you like your full backs to make plenty of forward runs. He’s only got 1 year left on his contract, so get him before his wages rise once he signs a new contract.

Nenad Tomovi? represents the other side of full backs – defensive buy xanax online best price minded ones. He is very strong (he starts with strength 84) and reads the game very well. He’s also good in the air, so expect him to chip in with a few goals from set pieces.

Seeing as RBs have become very expensive since the update, I thought I’d include a cheap one – Matteo Darmian. His low price doesn’t take away from his potential of 80, and for that amount of money I don’t think you can really go wrong. Like Tomovi?, he is a defensive minded full back, so sign him if your back line needs a bit of shoring up.

Please bear in mind that these figures may not be exactly the same on your game. These stats are taken from my own personal experiences, but are likely to be very similar to those on your own game. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep checking these players, as their prices may drop radically after a while.

Finally, if you’ve had any experiences of good players’ prices changing wildly (especially if their price drops), please post it in the comments.

So, without further ado, here are the players:

  1. i’ve started a new career mode with arsenal and i want a young right back who can centre back. i have around £15-20million to spend. my first choice target was martin kelly but he’s said he doesn’t want to join. another of my targets had recently joined a club so i can’t sign him. so who could i sign or should i wait till the next transfer window and try to sign kelly again? please could u reply asap as i’ve only got around 15 days left for transfers. thanks

    1. oh i would sign clyne but there’s few players in that position and would be two expensive as i tried to sign zaha(another position that crystal palace had few players in) for £25.5 million when his value was £5.5 million but that was rejected.

Yeah it’s really annoying when that happens, because teams never seek to buy backup players for that position! Also, your negotiator will tell you that they don’t have many players in that position so you’ll need to put in a really good bid, but that’s no true because no bid at all will ever be high enough unless they get a back up player through purchasing one or scouting one :/

Well try Martin Cáceres of Juventus if you can afford him, he has potential 87 and is a RB but I think he was originally a CB. If he’s too expensive then try Mário Fernandes of Grêmio (ptoential 83) or Nenad Tomović of Lecce (potential 82), both are very good at CB and at RB.

Well if you need one straight away then definitely go for Tomovic. He’s way cheaper than the others and is already very strong (strength 84). His potential is slightly lower, but the difference between 82 and 83 is practically nothing (you won’t notice it if you play games), and the gap between 82 and 87, again, isn’t extreme. However, I must warn you that if you want him then you probably need to buy him in the first season. Lecce’s only backup RB is Oddo, who is on loan from Milan. Once his loan expires at the end of the season, Lecce will tell you they don’t have enough RBs and so won’t sell Tomovic. They never think to actually buy a backup of their own (annoying, I know), so you have to get him in the first season if you want him.

Player prices to fluctuate a lot, however, so if you’re not desperate for a RB right away then I’d recommend waiting until the January transfer window and looking at their prices again. After that, wait until the next season, etc. Sometimes prices can very by extremes – before the winter roster update, Fernando (CDM at Gremio) cost £12m at the start, but that dropped to £6m by the January transfer window! It’s likely that Caceres’ price will drop. So be sure to check their prices regularly if you don’t need a RB right away.

  2. I really like Adam Matthews, because he has good physical stats and average technical skills. He is one of my favourites.

Nah, he costs £2.6m but his potential is 78. Matteo Darmian from F. Torino only costs £1.9m but his potential is 80. You could get Ashley Richards from Swansea, he has the same potential as Koch (78) but he only costs £725,000.
