FIFA 17 Cheap Beasts: Joe Bryan

Cheap Beasts is a series of FIFA 17 career mode guides dedicated to finding you the best high potential cheap players in FIFA 17. You’ll see why you should buy them, how much to pay for them and how good they become in the future. I’m looking for guest authors, so if you’re interested in writing a Cheap Beasts article, get in touch!

My Cheap Beast today is Joe Bryan of Bristol City. Possessing great pace, stamina and well-rounded stats, he’s a great choice for anyone needing a talented attacking full back.

He starts off with some excellent physical stats, from his 85 acceleration and 87 sprint speed to his 83 stamina and 89 balance. His 73 strength also makes him fairly strong for a 5’7″ player.

That short stature is cancelled out by his amazing 90 jumping. It may sound hard to believe, but that makes him a real danger from corner kicks – in my Bristol City career he frequently outjumps much taller players and scores plenty of headers. And as you can see from the pictures below, he developed into a real aerial threat with 91 jumping and 93 heading accuracy in my tests!

He’s a danger with the ball at his feet too, thanks to his good crossing and dribbling. But that’s balanced by his strong defensive stats, so he’s useful at both ends of the pitch. In fact, hes’ a very well-rounded player in almost all aspects, so can provide cover for nearly every outfield position.

Bristol City want £3.1m for him, but you can knock that down to around £2.7m. His wages are £22,500.

Here are his stats at the start of a career mode:

And here’s how he looked for me after three years of growth:

As you can see, he’s now just one point off his 80 potential with a few more years’ worth of growth left in him.

His heading has improved to a monstrous 93! That’s up 26 points. In practice it means that he is absolutely dominant in the air and so dangerous from corners. Don’t be put off by his height, he’s an aerial threat through and through.

Elsewhere, his physical stats have improved slightly and his crossing and ball control have grown to 82 and 81 respectively. That means he’s got both the pace and stamina to get forward, and the crossing ability to provide plenty of chances for his teammates.

That all makes him the perfect choice for anyone looking for a talented, high potential full back in FIFA 17 career mode.

Quick tips:

  • Make sure he doesn’t take corners. This will make sure the game puts him in the box where his aerial prowess will be devastating
  • His pace and stamina make him great if you like crossing into the box, so pair him with a target man striker who can get on the end of his crosses
