A quick video on new career mode features

Transfers have been completely revamped in FIFA 18, as this video shows. When you receive a transfer offer it shows a lot more detail than in FIFA 17, giving you options to accept the offer, reject it, delegate it to an assistant, or negotiate the offer. Negotiating a transfer offer has been completely revamped, with a animated cut scenes and far more options. Let’s look at some of them now.

Transfer and contract negotiations are now far more in-depth. There are options for release clauses, appearance fees and signing bonuses, as well as things like squad roles and contract lengths that were in previous versions of FIFA. Combined with the new cut scenes, it will make contract and transfer negotiations far more interesting and realistic. Credit: TheRealDGTV

Youth academy & scouting

Not much seems to have changed when it comes to the youth academy and youth scouting. This could be because there simply won’t be many big changes to scouting in FIFA 18, or it could be because EA will add new features later. These images are all from the beta, after all. There’s now a ‘Squad Hub’, where you can view all your players’ roles, ratings, form, morale and more. Hopefully you will also be able to view stats from previous seasons, but there’s no word on this yet. I’ll update this article when/if I find out more about that. Credit: Unknown user on Reddit

  1. looks promising. wish we could select refs kit during kit selection screen, or have better logic to pick most opposite kit. Seem to be issues with not “recognizing” multicolor kits, which leads to ref wearing something too similar

  2. Thanks for posting! The revamped transfer system looks great, although the negotiation cut scenes are probably something I’d only use the first few times before I just start pressing skip. I am much more into the addition of buyout clauses/sell-on fees. Most of the things I’m hoping for you mentioned in your last post, but a fix to work rates, weak foot/skill moves of top youth prospects has got to be addressed. Also, any new change to the youth academy would be welcome.. please don’t just leave the youth academy and training sessions completely untouched!

Then my dream item that probably won’t happen is being able to edit/design an alternate jersey (I typically base my career mode team selection around what jersey color schemes I can stand to look at for hours on end, so being able to edit one jersey even if only in future seasons would be awesome).

Lastly, other ways to use the club money would be nice. A little pie chart showing revenues from shirt sales etc. is cool but what can I do with that to impact the club? I get that it’s manager mode and not team owner/president mode, but still, give us a little more freedom with steering the club (invest in an assistant coach who makes training sessions more successful when simmed, or a better transfer negotiator who makes you more successful in those fancy new transfer scenes they made, or increase stadium size, etc.).
