FIFA 12 | Lower League Gems – Central midfielders (winter update)

I realise I may not have made it clear at first – this article refers to players’ stats after the winter update.

Plenty of choice on offer again today, and a lot of very cheap players full of potential especially when compared to other positions. Let’s get stuck straight in to my recommendations:

  • Alessio Esposito
  • Scott Allan
  • Christopher Missilou

Like Joseph Hu in the goalkeepers article, Alessio Esposito is one of the only players in the game who reaches at least 80 OVR and yet still costs less than £1m. With that in mind he was more or less an automatic choice for me! Don’t worry about his OVR, that will shoot up because he’s got a lot of growing to do. Go for him, you’ll be glad you did.

Really, Scott Allan is an attacking midfielder rather than simply a CM. His ball control and dribbling are already 70 and 72 respectively and his balance is 72, so don’t be surprised if he gets the dribbler speciality fairly early on. He’s also quick, so use him to make darting runs forward in support of your forwards. His wages are also very affordable for an attacker, so get him quick before his they rise.

Christopher Missilou is my final recommendation, and he’s more of a holding midfielder than Allan. His reading of the game is excellent, and he especially excels at both positioning and interceptions. He’ll be the one to stop opposition attacks and then link a through ball on to your strikers. At £525,000 you can’t go far wrong either!

These figures refer to the winter update stats. As always, please bear in mind that these figures may not be exactly the same on your game. These stats are taken from my own personal experiences, but are likely to be very similar to those on your own game. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep checking these players, as their prices may change radically after a while.

Players are ordered by potential, then cost, so it should be pretty simple to find someone who meets both your budget and ability/potential requirements.

Finally, if you’ve had any experiences of good players’ prices changing wildly (especially if their price drops), please post it in the comments!

So, without further ado, here are the players:
