FIFA 12 | Lower League Gems – Target men (winter update)

I realise I may not have made it clear at first – this article refers to players’ stats after the winter update.

Time for the final article in the series, this time on target men. These players are strong and good in the air. They can be used to hold the ball up for teammates or to dominate the opposition in the air. If you get a target man, make sure you have a least one wide player with good crossing stats, as target men are often (though not always) better with their head than with their feet.

Here are my recommendations:

  • Billel Omrani
  • Lee Jong Ho
  • Daniel Jais

I’m recommending Billel Omrani because he’s a very well-rounded player. He’s got great stamina and, being a target man, is great in the air. However, he’s also got really good short passing ability, so will be able to create goals as well as score them. Furthermore, like Sébastian Haller in the goalscorers article, he is one of the few high-potential strikers in the game that not only cost less than £1m, but have finishing over 70 (in Omrani’s case it’s 72). So he’s good not only in the air but with his feet too. With potential 79, he is a very exciting prospect.

Lee Jong Ho is next up, and believe me, he is worth every penny. I’ve seen first-hand the destruction he can leave in his wake. Not only does he have that awesome combination of being very quick and having great stamina, but he becomes extremely strong and fantastic in the air. His heading and long shots become a force to be reckoned with. He is so much fun to play with because he can steam through oppositions back lines as defenders just bounce off him.

Finally, my third recommendation is Daniel Jais. Another quick one, he is also very strong. Though he has the same potential as Lee Jong Ho, he is cheaper, so you can bag yourself a similar player and save cash. He also has an excellent weak foot (4 stars) and a wicked shot on him. Not only will he be able to use his strength to hold the ball up, but he has the speed to get past defenders and into goalscoring positions. A bargain for what you get.

These figures refer to the winter update stats. As always, please bear in mind that these figures may not be exactly the same on your game. These stats are taken from my own personal experiences, but are likely to be very similar to those on your own game. The best thing to do is to make sure you keep checking these players, as their prices may change radically after a while.

Players are ordered by potential, then cost, so it should be pretty simple to find someone who meets both your budget and ability/potential requirements.

Finally, if you’ve had any experiences of good players’ prices changing wildly (especially if their price drops), please post it in the comments!

So, without further ado, here are the players:
